Joel

Both a major and a minor character in The Merlin Conspiracy, Joel is the older of the two prayerboys who accompanied The Prayermaster as he strode through Loggia City, and later on the helicopter he used to pursue Romanov to his hidden island in the past. There, he and his fellow prayerboy Japheth evidently do a murder and escape in the helicopter to be encountered later in the novel.

Joel has a voice that squawks and is described, in his Loggia City appearance, as about Nick's age  with a sharp face.  When he and the others arrive on the island, he appears dark and smug and saintly, which is an indication of how he'll be when he appears much later in the book.  A resoundingly horrible person.
