Conrad Chant is the oldest of three brothers, all of whom have strong magical lineage. Conrad is the father of Francis Chant, who ends up marrying his first cousin Caroline Chant and becoming the father of Gwendolen and Eric Chant. Frank writes a letter to his cousin Christopher that ends up creating bad blood between them.
Eventually, Conrad Chant ends up as the uncle of one Chrestomanci and the grandfather of another.
