Healing Horn is the area run by high Brother Edward, who is the Arth equivalent of a doctor, but a doctor whose skills are enhanced with magic.
Edward is tall, solemn, and trustworthy, so much so that he has become, over time, the closest friend to the High Head of Arth, Brother Lawrence. They have meals together and share problem-solving tasks and decisions on the best way to run a large magical arm of the government.
When the Celestial Omnibus is captured, Edward is involved in decontaminating the capsule, treating the wounded, and performing autopsies on the dead, and it's he who discovers the role of analogues in explaining the deaths of some, but not all, humans on the capsule.
He also discovers that he will have to devote special attention to Judy, one of the women who was most affected by her experiences on the capsule, and who has gone into a full-blown depression as a result.
Eventually, love blooms and Edward recognizes the futility of trying to maintain traditional celibacy in the face of strong emotions. And in the end, he's quite glad he did.
